RX-T33 Aftercare Steps

Restoring your youth doesn’t have to always be as extreme as going under the knife. Advancements in skin esthetic treatments have led to the development of a variety of non-invasive options that can rejuvenate your skin just as efficiently as cosmetic surgery.

Chemical peels are the third most common anti-aging treatment in the United States and have been clinically proven to provide excellent results without draining your wallet. 1 The PRX-T33 is a revolutionary non-injectable biorevitalization peel that can restore the youthful glow to your skin without any downtime.

It is a non-peeling peel, meaning that you won’t have to worry about any dryness or flaking of skin after treatment. PRX-T33 isn’t limited to one type of skin; everybody can use it to help reduce wrinkles and increase skin tightness on your face, neck, and even breast tissue.

The absolutely painless application is your first step to eliminating those unsightly red spots, shrinking the size and depth of scars, and minimizing the appearance of large pores. PRX-T33 has been clinically proven to be a safe method of reducing acne scars, 2 and estheticians frequently recommend utilizing PRX-T33 for rosacea, melasma, and hyperpigmentation.

PRX-T33 Aftercare

In order to maximize the efficiency of the anti-aging powers of PRX-T33, it’s vital that you follow your treatment with proper aftercare. Using these five tips after receiving your treatment will guarantee that you receive the best results possible.

1. Protect Your Skin

Apply, and reapply, your sunscreen. We can’t stress enough how skin exposure to the sun is the biggest cause of visible aging. 80% of facial aging is the result of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. 3 If you know you will be exposed to the sun itself or artificial sources like tanning beds, you should take preventative measures seriously, especially after receiving a PRX-T33 treatment.

When choosing a sunscreen, it’s best to use one with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. If you received your PRX-T33 biorevitalization treatment on your face, we recommend selecting a facial-specific non-comedogenic sunscreen with a minimum of 50 SPF. Take care to thoroughly apply a liberal amount of product, and massage it deeply into your skin.

You should always reapply your sunscreen every two hours when outdoors or as directed on the product’s package. We recommend applying more frequently when in direct light or in an environment that can cause the sun to reflect from additional angles. For example, when skiing or swimming, the snow and water reflect the sun back onto your skin and make the sun’s UV rays stronger. Even if it is a chilly, cloudy day, you can still do serious damage to your skin if you do not use sunscreen while at the beach or on the mountain.

In addition to a good sunblock, also utilize your own clothing to help protect you from the harmful rays of the sun. Simply wearing a hat or clothing with a high ultraviolet protective factor (UPF) can make a huge difference in the amount of exposure you’re getting. UPF clothing is becoming more common and is now carried by many outdoors and activewear retailers. These days, it’s easy to find fashionable UPF clothing without breaking the bank.

2. Cleanse Gently

You should always take care to be gentle with your skin, but the area you received your PRX-T33 biorevitalization retreatment on should be treated with delicacy. After application of PRX-T33, the treated area may still have some transient heat, and it is not uncommon to see swelling, redness, and tenderness of the skin.

These side effects will typically dissipate pretty quickly, but they do have the potential to last up to a week. Even if you aren’t experiencing any swelling, redness, or tenderness of the skin, it is still recommended that you take extra care of the treated area for seven days.

Only use cool water and a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser on the treated area. Take care not to wash the area too roughly; scrubbing or excessive rubbing can result in swelling and redness. Make sure you pat dry any skin that you have cleansed with a soft cloth. After the seven days have passed, you should be cleared to resume your previous skincare routine and go back to using all of your favorite products. Consider introducing new skin care tips to your regular routine.

3. Avoid Salicylic Acid Products, Additional Treatments, and Makeup

If you received your treatment on your face, do not use makeup for a minimum of 24 hours. Although you may have favorite products that you use all the time, some ingredients may cause a reaction with your freshly treated skin. Some makeup products, primarily foundations and primers, contain salicylic acid, which, when applied to the treated area, could cause a severe reaction.

Salicylic acid is a type of medicine that is found in many products and is used to treat everything from acne to dandruff. Because of its exfoliating properties, salicylic acid works by helping to shed dead cells on the outermost layer of your skin. 3 For this reason, applying a product that has salicylic acid to an area that has been recently treated with PRX-T33 can result in serious irritation.

After receiving PRX-T33, it is also advised that you do not receive any other cosmetic treatments in the same area for one week. If you received a facial peel, it is also recommended that you do not have any dental treatments during the initial healing period as well. You don’t want to do anything to interfere with the healing process and potentially spoil your fantastic results.

4. Moisturize Frequently

Moisturize Frequently

A light, non-comedogenic moisturizer should already be a frequent part of your skincare routine, and bonus points if your favorite product already has SPF as part of its formula. Moisturizing regularly can help reduce the visual effects of aging by reducing fine lines and making skin smooth and soft. It is an essential part of skincare that should never be overlooked.

By creating an extra protective layer to our skin that protects against water loss and assists with the replacement of the skin’s natural fats, moisturizers have been proven to restore the integrity of the outermost layer of our skin, the epidermis. 4 The barrier that moisturizers create diminishes the effects the environment has already had on our skin and is a great prevention method against any outside irritations.

After your PRX-T33 procedure, you’re going to want to moisturize more frequently than you typically do during the seven-day period after treatment. To get the most radiant results, you need to ensure that your skin is consistently well hydrated.

Experiencing dryness or flaking after PRX-T33 treatment is not uncommon. Moisturizing regularly can help prevent it from happening in the first place and will minimize the flaking if you do experience side effects from the peel.

It is sometimes tempting to purchase a moisturizer with exotic ingredients, but make sure you are using a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic formula after your biorevitalization treatment. Save their use for after your healing period has passed. You don’t want to create any combinations that may be potentially irritating because they could lengthen healing time and dull your results.

5. Try Walking, Not Weightlifting

For the best results, any situation or environment that could cause excessive sweating should be avoided during the healing period. And yes, that includes exercise.

Causing your PRX-T33 treated skin to sweat excessively can lead to serious irritation and can potentially mess up your ideal results. If you are already experiencing swelling or redness as a side effect, sweating can exacerbate that effect, resulting in extreme discomfort. Sweating can also cause the skin to heal unevenly, resulting in discoloration or red patches.

If you’re a couch potato, you may be rejoicing right now, but for you fitness fanatics, this might sound like a death sentence. Don’t worry! Rigorous exercise only needs to be avoided during the initial seven-day healing period before you can go back to your usual routine.

In the meantime, there are a variety of exercise options that you can utilize to keep you active while your skin is healing. Walking and Pilates are great ways to keep your body moving without potentially ruining your vibrant results.

If you’re not already a yogi, consider giving it a try or adding it to your routine. Practicing gentle yoga will be beneficial for both your body and your mind. 5 At the end of your healing period, you’ll be emitting pure radiance.

Remember, if you are choosing to exercise outside, don’t forget your sun protection. In the form of SPF or clothing, it is crucial that you continue to protect your skin from all of the sun’s UV rays after your PRX-T33 biorevitalization treatment.

Getting Back To Normal

After your five to seven-day healing period, you should be cleared by your esthetician or dermatologist to resume all your regular activities. Then it’s back to normal! You can go back to your established skincare routine and maybe experiment with that new product you’ve been wanting to try. If you typically use retinoids or are thinking about adding them to your routine, you can resume use after the healing period.

If you wear makeup, you’ll be able to resume using any products that might contain medicinal ingredients, like foundation or primer with salicylic acid. For our fitness fanatics, once you’ve successfully made it through the healing period, you can resume any vigorous exercise that can induce excessive sweating without fear of messing up your results.

Remember, it is always important to be cleared by your esthetician or dermatologist before resuming your regular activities, and always reach out to them if you have any side effects that persist after your PRX-T33 treatment.

Keep in mind that after you return for your next 30-minute PRX-T33 biorevitalization session, the clock will restart on your healing process, and you will once again need to follow these four aftercare steps to get the most out of your rejuvenation treatment.
